Gülen Fear

Nazlı Ilıcak
I am calling out to those who are worried about "losing secularism." The ratio of students studying in private school to students studying in public schools is not even three to 100.

If you look at the percentage of schools established by people with sympathy toward the Gülen community among private schools, the figure is somewhere in the thousandths.

There are 34,093 public primary schools and 8,000 public secondary schools, including vocational and technical schools. The total number of private schools is around 900. Of this figure, 100 or possibly 150 are considered to be associated with the Gülen community.

Unfortunately, a psychological movement is being carried out, inciting people with irrational fear. Even if 150 of 900 private schools are associated with the Gülen community, then at most 50,000-60,000 students are learning in this system. The number of students who received grants from Türkan Saylan is 60,000.

"Modern educators! Apparently you have found the antidote to Gülen schools. If so, then continue down your road. But please, purge these concerns and fears from your heart and mind. Put a little trust in yourself and in Turkey."
